Baked Ziti with Sausage from Maggiano’s?
My roommate one day brought this back from the restaurant, and it was amazing….so I need a fairly simple recipe for tomorrow night.
I have:
Penne
Vodka sauce
onion
garlic
I was just thinking of probably buying some mushrooms and the italian sausage, and thats it. Opinions?
Ps: My guy doesn’t like cheesy meals or foods.
Does this count as a cheesy meal because of the cream in the vodka sauce?
BAKED ZITI AND SAUSAGE
2 lb. hot or sweet Italian sausage (casings removed)
1 1/2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 jar (32 oz.) Spaghetti Sauce (any flavor)
3/4 pkg. 916 oz. size) ziti, cooked & drained
1/4 tsp. fennel seed
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet thoroughly brown sausage. Add mushrooms and onion; saute until onion is translucent. Drain fat. Add remaining ingredients except mozzarella cheese. Spoon mixture into a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Bake covered for 20 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle with cheese and bake 10 minutes, or until bubbly. Serves 8.
OR
SAUSAGE ZITI BAKE
1 1/2 lbs. sweet Italian sausage (casings removed)
2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
1 lg. onion, chopped
32 oz. spaghetti sauce
1 (16 oz.) pkg. ziti, cooked & drained
1/4 tsp. fennel seed
1 c. Mozzarella cheese
Salt & pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large skillet, thoroughly brown sausage. Add mushrooms and onion, saute until vegetables are tender; drain fat. Add sauce, ziti, fennel seed, salt and pepper. Spoon into 13″x9″ baking dish. Bake, covered 30 to 35 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese; bake 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serves 8.
OR
BAKED ZITI WITH ITALIAN SAUSAGE
1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage
1/2 c. mushrooms
1/3 c. onions
1 c. peppers
8 oz. ziti
3 1/2 c. spaghetti sauce (can be jar)
1 c. mozzarella cheese
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
1 clove garlic
Slice sausage – brown meat in skillet. Add garlic, mushrooms, peppers and onions; saute vegetables until soft. Drain excess fat off. Cook ziti according to package; drain.
Combine ziti with 2 cups of sauce. Spread 1/4 cup sauce on bottom of pan. Arrange 1/2 the ziti in pan. Spoon sausage vegetable mixture evenly over ziti. Top with 1/2 cup sauce, 2/3 cup mozzarella cheese and 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese. Cover with remaining ziti sauce and cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
