Chocolate Pepper Cookies?
I’m looking for a recipe for a chocolate cookie that contains black pepper…I think they are called Chocolate Italian cookies. It’s been a Christmas favorite for years but I have misplaced my recipe. Can anybody help me with the recipe for this tasty treat?!
ITALIAN CHOCOLATE PEPPER COOKIES
4 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. black pepper
1 c. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 pt. milk (2 c.)
Mix all dry ingredients in large bowl or pan. Make hole in center, add shortening and milk. Mix by hand. It will be very sticky. Roll or spoon into small balls, size of walnuts. Bake at 350 to 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. When cooled dip in chocolate or white frosting.
